Escuela Juan Sisay 15 Avenida 8-38, Zona 1 Quetzaltenango, Guatemala To whom it may concern: Escuela Juan Sisay is a non-profit Spanish language school that was founded in 1989. In addition to teaching Spanish to hundreds of international visitors, we have endeavored to contribute to the social development of the Quetzaltenango community through a variety of service projects. One of our strongest beliefs is that social change comes about through education. Unfortunately, many Guatemalan families are not able to afford the supplies necessary for their children to attend school, and therefore their children simply do not attend school. Through Escuela Juan Sisay's Children's Education Project, we provide scholarships to nearly 60 students from low-income families in Quetzaltenango. The educational scholarships we provide allow families to purchase items that help their children to attend and succeed in school. The scholarships are used to purchase items such as notebooks, textbooks, pens and pencils, and uniforms. When we have enough money, we are also able to purchase shoes, sweaters, and eyeglasses for the children. Our Children's Education Project is funded by a percentage of the tuition fee of each of our Spanish language students attending our school. There are times when we do not have enough funds to adequately support the families in our scholarship program. We would therefore greatly appreciate any donation you might be able to offer us. Donations to this project are tax-deductible, and we will gladly provide you with a receipt.
