Zunil, known for the Mayan god San Simon and a women's cooperative where high quality textiles are woven, is just a few miles from Xela down toward the coast. From here you can also get to the Fuentes Georginas.

San Simon is a Mayan god only found in Guatemala. He is a Saint who heals people from any kind of illness, brings luck in love, success in work and so on. There are several San Simons in Guatemala, but the San Simon in Zunil is the most famous one.

You will pass this little village on your way to Arguas Armagas close to Zunil. The Aguas Armagas are hot springs.

Lake Atitlan is said to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. One reason for this is obviously the surrounding volcanos.
